SFO exists to make money for San Francisco. In this case by charging rent to BART and using it to (indirectly) subsidize the City of San Francisco's budget.

Other interesting ways that the city of San Francisco makes money by running the quarry in Sunol and developing sprawling offices and shopping centers in the Hacienda business park. Remember, San Francisco's green is as much PR as reality.Winstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00043006960450523372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6609536178570975752.post-79792186934008600812009-07-09T14:13:30.195-07:002009-07-09T14:13:30.195-07:00Sounds like SFO paid for the extension to be built...Sounds like SFO paid for the extension to be built, which would make sense that they charge BART for use of it.

Sounds like BART is actually getting a deal if SFO is paying $14+ million a year and bart only pays $2-3 million.lyqwydhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13246339570684365095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6609536178570975752.post-84937931448494460402009-07-09T07:41:26.548-07:002009-07-09T07:41:26.548-07:00IIRC cabs and buses also have to pay the airport f...IIRC cabs and buses also have to pay the airport for access. And in general it's not that unusual for airports to charge exorbitant fees because they don't want to be seen as subsidizing transit. At JFK the Port Authority charges $5 for a ride on the AirTrain from the subway, and at Newark there is a surcharge for using the airport station.crzwdjkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06394805356595604336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6609536178570975752.post-87105094185125636202009-07-09T06:50:12.158-07:002009-07-09T06:50:12.158-07:00So what happens if BART stops paying the rent?So what happens if BART stops paying the rent?Herbie Markworthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14413794599568143095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6609536178570975752.post-42946987097537610352009-07-09T05:57:23.704-07:002009-07-09T05:57:23.704-07:00Are you kidding me?
