Well vacation will be over in the morning. I was enjoying my time off but can't be a bum forever. Here are some links for the day.

The New York Times has an editorial asking for more funding for transit and an end to the cost-effectiveness index. Never thought I would see that!

Folks in Tampa are hoping to expand their transit types to include a rail system.

The debate over light rail vibration continues in the Twin Cities. A study says that it can be minimized by technology.

Meanwhile, the Post says NYC doesn't need any money from the feds and we "shoulda" just taken the money transit needs from education and medical expenses instead, because we're a wealthy city and oil is cheap again (and will be forever). Or something.
I don't get it. The solution to the problem of New York's subsidizing the federal government is for New York not to ask for money from it?
If/when the Tampa area gets light rail lets hope they don't screw it up the way they did their streetcars. Their streetcar system is good for one thing though...an example of what not to do.
