OT: BCS - Better Check the Scoreboard

I could type a lot of stuff here. But as a Texas fan and alum, it's disappointing to see two teams you've already beaten play in the Big 12 Championship, one of which you had the same record as and beat, the other which has a worse record than three teams in the other division. It's also annoying to watch football games of teams you don't like and have to root for one because of football politics. For all those who think the BCS is a good idea, you're not in it for the right reasons and if the only reason you can make is money, you need to put your greed in check.

This is one reason I liked running track than playing other sports. The stopwatch doesn't lie.

And to keep this a little transit related, you'll be able to take Light Rail to the Texas - OU game next year in Dallas.

I'd have more sympathy had Texas and Mack Brown not whined, complained, and manipulated the system to their favor in the 2004 season, denying my California Golden Bears their first Rose Bowl trip since 1959.

Still, the BCS is a joke and needs to be abolished in favor of a true playoff.

I think this is more of a problem with the Big XII's tiebreaker rules more so than it is a problem with the BCS and how its standings are determined.

The Big XII Championship should be between Texas and Oklahoma. They are the two best teams in that conference and should be battling it out for the conference championship.

Oh wait, they already played a game on a neutral site.

^That's true, but the Big XII has a conference championship game that is meant to match the two best teams up against one another. With that being the case then that should be the match up. But with your point maybe they shouldn't have a conference championship at all. The Big Ten, Big East and Pac 10 all do without one.

The problem is that the voters who make up 2/3rds of the BCS formula typically put more emphasis on what you've done lately. So they remember Texas's loss to to Texas Tech and Texas Tech's loss to Oklahoma more than they remember Texas's defeat of Oklahoma way back on October 11th.

I tend to favor a playoff, although I recognize that it would create its own controversies. No system will be perfect.
