Apparently my friends think of taking pictures of trains/transit for The Overhead Wire when they are abroad. That's pretty awesome. Here's one tiled tram from Hiroshima last week that my friend and newest international correspondent @spicer took. You can check out his blog for more on his trip to Japan and a pretty stunning photo of the city after the bomb was detonated.

Sunday Night Photo Dump: Salt Lake & SF Aerials
I forgot to post these after my Salt Lake Trip but there are a few good shots from the one station I got to hang around at that weekend. Unfortunately I didn't get to take a ride but I did get an all too familiar video of someone running after the train.
Also I'm not sure but these look like the trains that VTA sold to Salt Lake City.
Some more photos:

Great Mountains
Downtown
I also got a few San Francisco shots on the way home...I wish I could have opened the window.

Sunday Night Photo Dump I
I'm sorry that I haven't been able to share photos and videos that I've taken with you all. In the last month I've been to Minneapolis and Los Angeles taking some mad photos of some great TOD and some airplane shots that should spark some conversation.
Every time I go somewhere I'll try to get out and visit people and places. In this instance, I took out in Downtown Minneapolis and along the Gold Line in LA. Here's some highlights. If you want to check out all the pictures, go to the flickr feed for Transit Nerds.
First here are some shots in Minneapolis:
Dental Offices on the Light Rail Line seem to appreciate that fact.
The Post Office was Art Deco, and very photogenic. Yes that's me in the reflection. Cool huh?
The New I-35 Bridge
Segway Tours...
Mill City Development with cool exterior elevator
Obligatory LRV photo
The next posts will be Los Angeles and Aerials.

San Francisco from the Sky
I'll try and do a Photo Dump at some point this weekend but here's a good one I took from the plane. The big brown dot downtown is on the plane window. Too bad it couldn't be clearer.

Photos of Interest: Chinese Trams
Leroy Demery who often posts with Mr. Setty at PublicTransit.us has loaded photos from 1983 when Chinese Trams still operated. Fascinating!

Charlotte Photo Dump
Charlotte is turning into a great place (Not that it wasn't good before). Here's a small tour of what is going on.
The Dilworth Streetcar Suburb. Look familiar?
Because there was no comprehensive plan for the South End, everything is Zoned TOD.
It's going to be a sad that they will have to cut down some of these trees.
New development in the south end.
New Streetcar Tracks on Elizabeth Ave.
The Surveyer
Fall Foliage
Mid-Day Thursday ridership

Sunday Photo Dump: San Francisco
So I was out and about today around the N Judah and took a few photos. I also took a few on the 4th of July that I didn't get to post. I really like capturing what's going on around me and I always have my camera in my bag in case something inspires me to capture it. In any event, some of these are transit related but it's mostly about great cities, which are an essential part of the transit-oriented lifestyle.
This is a mural on some plywood on my street. This house has been under construction for about 2 years and the neighbors got tired of it. They told me that when the house is done, they are going to use these as their back fence. It's kind of sad because no one will get to see them. I kind of enjoy seeing something new on them each day I come home from work. It's a very cool evolution.
Over at the East Portal of the Muni Sunset Tunnel, made famous by numerous cars that drive in there thinking its a throughway even though its clearly for rail cars, purple flowers grow between the tracks.
Fixes for the entrance for the Market Street Subway for the N and J tracks are much needed. I hear they are coming soon. But here's the condition now. This is why speeds of 5 mph are used in this section of track.
This was a look at the Bay towards the Golden Gate bridge from Fillmore street on the 4th of July. It's quite a regular occurrence to have this much fog on the 4th. It's bad because it blocks out the fireworks show.
Here's golden gate park on the 4th. San Francisco fog style.
I've been seeing a lot more of these as well...
And while this might look ugly to some, it's music to my lungs. I would take visual pollution over air pollution any day. Usually you don't even notice, but it hurts more to breathe diesel exhaust than it does to see these.
