China: 270 KM of Subway Under Construction Simultaneously

This just makes me feel ridiculous. We're fighting over 10 or 11 miles at a time of surface rail and they are building 270 km (167 miles) of subway!

    Haha, I think I ranted about the exact same thing a couple months back. Unfortunately, the best that we can do in SF seems to be the T-Third.

    To be fair, I believe quite a bit of the routes in planning for Beijing are surface routes running through essentially suburban areas. Still: point taken.

    I agree its monumental, but, there are huge disparities in labor costs...
