Name This Place

I'm a sucker for urban form. This place could use some transit...

Houston, or more specifically Uptown Houston / Galleria area. I guess I should know - I can see my condo in there.

Supposedly metro will be introducing a new type of "BRT-lite" bus service from here into downtown in the next year or so - called Quickline - basically it is specially branded buses with fewer stops, better bus stations, etc. Of course the new light rail line on Post Oak will not be too far away (when it opens - whenever that may be - 2014??), but still about 2 miles away for me - probably too far for me to walk most of the time. Then again, there are plenty of huge parking lots (like for the Galleria mall) which will be close to the line which I may use in order to take the train.

2 miles is a very easy bike ride.

Yeah, the "Houston-Galveston Area Council" image source label kinda gave it away.

Anyway, that's San Felipe running along the top of the picture, while Westheimer Road swerves into the lower right corner. This view is probably about a mile to the west of Post Oak and the Galleria.

You're right Thomas. I've always liked that part of Google Earth.
