Replay 8/7/08: What if the Trams Were Gone?

A very cool video that probably saved Melbourne's Tram system from the usual suspects back in the day. Visit Keep Melbourne Moving for More...

What if the trams were gone, then? Melbourne would be less liveable, in spite of all the new freeway crap built. And then, the trams should be extended to railway stations. Here's a map I made on Google Maps, which I linked on Wikipedia. On my Google account, it's the most popular map I've made, with 224 views (at this time). I'm currently trying to renovate it.

yes, I agree 100% on the extend to stations point. trams should have a side by side platform with the trains for a terminus wherever possible so people can transload. I also think a springvale road route from mitcham rd down to the frankston line (edithvale); and a wellington road from koornang rd terminus of 67 to would be worthwhile with links to appropriate existing lines (such as burwood hwy and the various stations), shopping centres (brandon park) and universities (monash). Finally, extend the princes hwy line to meet up these two to provide stronger connectivity in the graph.
