Over Time

This is a great way to show the expansion of a system over time. Check out David Alpert's time lapse of Metro expansion. What is interesting to me is how its done slowly over time and in segments. I think a lot of cities can learn from this.

The steps David shows in his animation of the Metro system were stages in the construction of the 86-station, 104-mile originally planned system. This wasn't the local governments funding and approving different segments over time; this was showing that the whole system took more than 20 years to construct.
